"The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods."
Psalms 24:1‭-‬2
The Earth Day is a global environmental movement marked on the 22nd of April every year. We celebrate the Earth Day by appreciating and respecting the natural world. `

The Negative impact of human activity on the climate and the environment has increased tremendously. This has led to so many environmental hazards, crisis, diseases, and conflicts. Climate and environmental pollution are now alarming and becoming uncontrollable. It is therefore our call to respond to Eco-injustices and to make conscious efforts to preserve the earth.

The Student Christian Movement (SCM) of Nigeria this year is actualizing part of the objectives of her strategic plan which has to do with enlightenment and advocacy to her members and the general public about Social issues

The Inter-Church, National and International Affairs Department of the SCM is saddled with this responsibility and has decided to carry out Social Media Engagement to mark the World Earth Day with the goal of raising awareness about mankind’s role in protecting our natural world. We, therefore, beacon on our movement, partners, and the public to join the Renew Our World Campaign Nigeria to act this week and beyond.

Earth Day events range from river and drainage cleanups to invasive removals, environmental cleanups, creating awareness about single-use plastic, air pollution such as smoke, burning of fossil fuels at high temperature, etc.

With social distancing in place for many of us this April, Earth Day has gone digital. Virtual events like environmental lectures and films will take place on Earth Day (Wednesday, April 22nd) instead. Of course, social distancing does not mean that you cannot go outside and enjoy nature if you do so responsibly!

OUR ACTION FOR WORLD EARTH DAY
